What is the Pipestave Horse Trial Series?
It is a series of low-level unrated combined training events with all three phases (dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping) taking place in one day.  The purpose of eventing is to test the skills and talents of horses and riders in three different disciplines.  Our courses are inviting and friendly and are intended for riders and/or horses entering the world of eventing.  We offer year-end awards and lots of fun competition.  The series is completely run and staffed by volunteers.

A horse may compete only once at each horse trial. Riders may enter more than one horse.  Please send a separate check for each horse and rider.  Sorry, no dressage only rides.

For dressage ring layout and copies of the dressage tests used, please see Pipestave Dressage.

NEW Discounts and Late Fees:
$5 discount if entry sent on opening day only (by postmark)
$20 late fee if entry sent after closing date (by postmark)

NEW Refund Policy:
Scratches received prior to the closing date will be refunded. Credit for a future event will be given for scratches after the closing date.  Neither refunds nor credits will be issued for scratches made within 48 hours of the event unless there is a waitlist.  Sorry, no exceptions.

NEW Cross-Country Fall Rule:
I
f in the first fall of competitor, he/she lands on their feet and remains standing, the rider must get the approval of the Technical Delegate to remount and if so, may continue with a penalty of 65 points.  This is similar to the rule that the USEA has instituted and we have decided to add the approval of the TD for remounting for safety reasons at this level.

EXPLANATION OF OUR GRASSHOPPER DIVISION
This is for those riders who don't feel ready to go cross county yet, with only two phases, dressage (walk-trot) and stadium jumping at a maximum of 2'0" crossrails.  Perfect for the younger rider who wants to go with her/his older friends, or anyone just starting out or with a brand new/young horse.

EXPLANATION OF OUR MODIFIED DIVISIONS
Modified Beginner Novice:  The Modified Beginner Novice division is a bridge from the Walk-Trot level to the Beginner Novice level.  It offers a walk-trot-canter dressage test at the Beginner Novice level, while the fence height remains at 2¹0".  The stadium jumping course is also a bit more challenging than the Elementary division, while maintaining the jump height at 2'0" maximum.

Modified Novice: The Modified Novice division is a bridge from Beginner Novice to the Novice level.  It offers a Novice level dressage test while the fence height for cross country remains at 2'7".  The stadium jumping height is at the Novice level of 2'11" maximum.

REMINDER TO ALL RIDERS - NO UNAUTHORIZED ASSISTANCE!!
This means no one else can ride your horse in a warm-up, your friends/family/trainer cannot point the way or talk to you in ANY of the three phases. This is your day...show us what YOU can do! Remember to remind your family, friends and trainer before you ride NOT to talk to you when you are being judged. Don't let them disqualify you!  Unfortunately, YOU lose (elimination) if a family member or trainer breaks the rules!!
