WNRDC is hosting a Stadium Jumping Practice event at Pipestave Hill. This is an opportunity for horses and riders to practice over the stadium obstacles used in the Pipestave Hill Horse Trials stadium phase*. Come and tune up over interesting courses to kick off the season, or bring a green horse to school away from home. Riders pay a flat fee of $30 to jump up to six (6) rounds at heights from crossrails/18" up to 3'. Riders may jump at one height or several heights as they wish. Rounds are not scored, judged or timed. *Please note the actual course designs for the July and October PHHT stadium phases will be different.
** This event is limited to 30 horse/rider combinations. **
Pre-registration is required!
Pre-registration opens May 14 and closes June 10, 2010
This event is held rain or shine, footing permitting. Pre-registered entrants will be notified by phone on June 12 if event is canceled.
A Good Cause: The funds raised will be allocated to purchasing new PVC jump standards and other stadium jump materials, to further improve the Pipestave stadium courses. Over the past two years we have purchased PVC standards to make the course easier to set up; repainted or repaired many of our wooden rails and standards; and added new striped PVC rails and flower boxes. The new PVC jump materials make the stadium courses more exciting for riders and spectators, as well as maintain a high level of safety.
A Few Volunteers: Of course, we can't run these fun activities without volunteers! This is a relatively simple event, so only 8 - 10 people are needed. Some volunteers can ride too and can enter at a reduced rate of $20!! Kathryn will also consider applying a parent or spouse's volunteer discount to the entry fee of their child or spouse.
Volunteer Jobs: Saturday June 12 Set-up: 2-4 people for 2-3 hours, late afternoon. Assist with the following: remove jumps from trailer and set up in ring; place tables/trash cans around rings. Parking: Direct horse trailers and vans to parking areas. Requires standing, or bring your own chair for the lulls. 2 people, 7:45 AM to 11:45 AM Registration: Check in riders and hand out packets. At end of shift, place tables in Kathryn's truck. A mostly sit-down job. 1 or 2 people, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Jump Crew: Replace rails after knock downs, assist with jump height changes. First shift will assist with initial course set up such as placing jump cups on the standards. At conclusion of event, 2nd shift will assist with putting jumps back in trailer and general clean-up (recycling, trash, manure). Most of the time will be spent standing and watching (or sitting – bring your own chair). First shift (1-2 people) 8 to 11 AM; second shift (2-4 people) 11AM to 2 PM
Manager: Kathryn West-McLeod or 617-943-9601.
