FROM MEMBER JUDY WRIGHT:
November 2009
Dear WNRDC members,

I just wanted to share my appreciation and thoughts on the cards and gifts recently given to me by the Club. As many of you know, Kandu, my wonderful 21 year old Lipizzan, was recently put down. For years I have been aware of the Club’s notes and donations when one of our cherished equines pass away. While I have always been supportive of this custom, when I received the card with a donation made in his name to the MSPCA, I burst into tears in appreciation. How different to be on the receiving end of this tradition. Thank you one and all for this gift of acknowledging his life and the loss of it for me.

On a happier note, I also recently received a fabulous looking edible arrangement including chocolate covered strawberries, from the Club. YUM! The encouraging and supportive card and the edible arrangement wished me a fast and full recovery from hip replacement surgery. I am happy to report that I am recovering very well. Again thank you one and all, for remembering me at this time. The Club provides us all with a community of equine enthusiasts. I believe it takes a village for each of us to live a full and connected life. Thank you WNRDC for being a part of my life.

Thanks again,
Judy Wright

FROM NEW ENGLAND EQUINE RESCUES (NEER):
March 2009
Dear WNRDC,
Thank you for your donation to help the horses.  Asyou know, NEER is dedicated to helping horses in any way possible, but we can't do it without the help of our friends.  Your donation of $100 will be used in the most beneficial way possible.  WE always use donated monies to pay the vets firs, then get our horses the things that they need... farrier work, dentistry, supplements, a blanket, etc. Thank you for your help!

Beth of NEER

FROM THE JEANNE GEIGER CRISIS CENTER:
March 2009
Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Board and staff of the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, I am grateful for your gift of $100.  You make the difference in the lives of many in our community when you make a gift to the Center.  The mission of the Center is to empower members of our community to live free from fear, intimidation, violence or threat of abuse by providing support, advocacy and education.
Thank you for helping us to continue this critical work.  We are known for the excellent services we offer, some of which include answering crisis hotline calls, delivering clinic services for children, leading support groups, and providing legal assistance and economic independence programming for adults.  Your gift helps support all that we do.
All of us at the Center are delighted to count you as one of our supporters.  Together we can continue to offer the resources that alleviate fear, provide safety, and restore hope and independence.
Thank you for playing a critical role in "stopping the violence".

Sincerely,
Suzanne C. Dubus
Executive Director

March 2009
To all WNRDC members,

I would like to extend my deep appreciation for the $100 donation forwarded to the Children's Equitation Center this month. We are very lucky to have your continued friendship especially since we have had a difficult time getting to the north shore to assist you in your various wonderful activities. Please know that we have wanted to, and that it has been on our minds.Travel has been challenging. I managed to venture to Kentucky last year with ten kids in the middle of the gas craziness because I had planned the trip for a year and could not renege. It ended up being a very exciting adventure for all. What lucky kids is all I can say. But you can imagine how long it took to recover from that trip!

I drove the van myself. We visited Kneeland RaceTrack, the Kentucky Horse Park, the Pony Finals, and Retirement facilities for many great horses. We stopped in Va.at the O'Connor farm and also spent a night at the 4-H head quarters in Chevy Chase, a great place to stay with young people. The youngest traveler was nine and the oldest was 16. The most outrageous part of the trip is that the kids made me come back with a Corgi puppy from the Pony Finals. Course, then the kids all went home and I ended up with the puppy. Just what I needed...another dog!

Our programs start end of April with The Riding Project, a program that incorporates ten families. We have Life with Horses this summer and our Equestrian Studies program will include a trip to the Washington International Horse Show. Our newest program this year is called the Lead Line Team. We have new Board members and are trying to figure out how to keep pushing forward successfully in this difficult economy. Financially it has been really challenging and very hard on all of us who are closely associated with C.E.C. On another note I hurt my back pretty badly so you can imagine how that gets in the way of all the work. But we keep on keepin on!

Thank you for all your support-
Roberta Willmore
