West Newbury Riding & Driving Club presents

Adventure Trail Ride

Sunday, August 17, 2008 ~ 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Pipestave Hill Equestrian Area, West Newbury, MA

Please join us for a non-competitive, fun, team, ADVENTURE trail ride on the lovely trails
and fields at Pipestave Hill and the surrounding area.

Teams of two or three riders will travel a 2-3 mile course on the trails. Along the way, teams will encounter challenges – tests and obstacles – typical of what one might encounter on any trail ride. All challenges will have a go-around option, so riders of all levels can participate.

So, where does the "Adventure" come in?
Be Adventurous with your mount in solving tests of your horse's obedience, agility, and calmness, such as open and/or close a gate; walk past flags/balloons; walk through water; check the mail box; and more (see our list below). Each test will have options on degree of difficulty, such as backing up straight through a chute, or backing up around a 90 degree corner. Riders can pick and choose their option at each challenge, or pass. Teams can expect approximately 8 to 12 trail obstacles or tests.

Lots of choices...
Experience Adventure in the opportunity to enjoy some of the jumps on the Pipestave Hill cross country course. We'll even throw in a little taste of Derby Cross, with a few stadium-type jumps in the fields! Each jump will have three options: A. no jump/rail on the ground; B. cross rails to 2 feet; C. 2 feet to 2'9". Riders can pick and choose their A-B-C option at each jump. Teams can expect approximately 10 to 16 total jumps.
The Adventure Trail Ride is NOT timed or scored. There will be one or two mandatory check-in points. We will have spotters on course to assist with directions. Entry Fee: $30 per person; WNRDC members, $25 per person. All riders will receive a small token to commemorate their participation.

We hope you will join us for this opportunity to ride in the country, and support the preservation
and maintenance of trails and open space in West Newbury.
