Adventure Trail Day

Pipestave Hill Equestrian Area, West Newbury, MA

Sunday, September 19, 2010

RIDE TIMES:
(none posted at this time)

Please join us for a non-competitive, fun, team ADVENTURE trail ride on the lovely trails
and fields at Pipestave Hill and the surrounding area.

Teams of two to four riders will travel a course of 3+ miles through trails and fields. Along the way, you will encounter challenges – tests and obstacles and jumps – similar to those you might encounter on any trail ride. All challenges are optional, so riders of all levels can participate.

Adventure Trail is NOT timed or scored. Travel at your own pace!  There will be one or two mandatory check-in points. Spotters will be on course to assist with directions and safety.  The event will be held rain or shine with the course adjusted as needed for safety.

KUDOS FROM LAST YEAR:
"The 4 in our group thoroughly enjoyed the Adventure Ride on Sunday!  What a great event, and excellent for horses to have fun and to accommodate a lot of different situations and requests from their riders.  Please pass on to the group who put it together that we all loved it, the trails were great, the volunteers helpful and everyone else I have talked with who also went on the ride loved it A LOT as well!"  Lisa White, Boxford, MA

Pre-Registration:
$30 per person
Mail your entry form with check and Coggins postmarked by Wednesday, September 15th.  Please give your team name, with whom you are planning to ride, and preferred ride time.  Assigned ride times will be posted on Friday, September 17th after 6 PM.

Post Entry:  $35 per person
You may enter on the day but please note that pre-registered entrants will be given priority as we allocate start times.

Volunteer and Ride:  $15.00 per person
You can save big by volunteering.  Help is needed in setting up the course the day before, clean-up afterwards and other activities.  Contact Sophiea to see what you can do to help.

Teams are 2 - 4 riders.  If you do not have a team partner, contact Sophiea Bitel to see if she can match you up.

FORMAT

Teams check-in with the Secretary.  Post entries must have their signed entry form, Coggins and payment (cash or check only).
Each rider will receive an Adventure Trail passport.  Once mounted and ready, teams approach the Starter for their departure time.  Teams will be sent out at a minimum of 2 minute intervals.  At several check points, each rider will present his/her Passport and receive a check-in sticker.

There will be volunteer spotters at most of the trail obstacles and jumps.  If you are having trouble with a jump or obstacle, we ask that you be courteous to other participants and move on if you mount is not cooperating.  Volunteers may ask you to skip an obstacle for safety reasons, or to allow other teams to negotiate the obstacle or jump.

At the end of your ride, please show your passport to receive your ribbon for completing the Adventure Trail.
