Update on WNRDC Mower Replacement – can you help?

This past fall, the mower used for the rings and the fields at Pipestave Hill broke down and was deemed “un-repairable”. As such, the club purchased a zero-turn, heavy duty, riding mower which will allow us to not only mow the rings but the pathways on the cross-country course. It will also make it possible to cut the grass quite close to the various jumps. Purchasing a new mower was quite expensive. Please Click HERE if you’d like to contribute towards the purchase. It would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you’d rather send a check in the mail, please make check payable to WNRDC and reference “mower” in the memo field. Mail to:

West Newbury Trails Presentation Re-Cap

On February 12th, Deb Hamilton presented a talk on West Newbury trails which was held at the GAR Memorial Library. Approximately 30 people were in attendance ranging from interested towns people, hikers, and horse owners, among others. Deb gave a comprehensive talk regarding who developed the various trails, who maintains them, how are they marked as well as what activities are permitted. Representatives from ECTA, WN Conservation Commission, and Open Space Committee were in attendance as well. Thanks Deb for an entertaining and informational evening.

HELP! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We really need your help! Many hands make light work. If you lack time but want to be involved – get creative – perhaps some jobs can be shared! If you can volunteer in any of the following capacities, it would be greatly appreciated!

MOWERS NEEDED

We are looking to add one or two people to help out in the Pipestave mowing rotation. With our new zero turn 60” mower deck, this task should be much easier and less time consuming! All equipment is provided. Please contact [email protected]

VOLUNTEERING CAN REALLY PAY

Did you know that when you volunteer at one of our events, or on the set up or clean up day, in addition to being able to earn a $10 discount volunteer card, you’re also entered into a $50 volunteer raffle, which is drawn twice a year!

A TRIP TO REMEMBER – Kilkea Castle, Ireland

This past January, club members Cindy Foote, Wendy Willis, and Edie McKinnon went on an adventure to Kilkea Castle, Ireland, est. 1180. Daily fox-hunting, falconry, archery, visiting neighboring thoroughbred training farms, a ride up Wicklow Mountain, spa treatments, and gourmet food were some of the highlights of the trip. Cindy says, “The Dublin Horse Show is July 15-19 and a group should get together and go!” If you see any of these ladies, I’m sure they’d be happy to talk with you about their Kilkea Castle trip. Check out some of the breath-taking fox hunt ditch crossings!!
