WNRDC Adventure Trail

WNRDC Adventure Trail October 9th, 2023

ENTRY FORM

The goal of Adventure Trail is for all kinds of riders to ride out and have FUN on a non-competitive team trail ride. We try to design it for all ages, disciplines and riding levels. Ages on our ride have ranged from 7 to 80.

It is a great event for family, friends, barns and a chill out event for competitors. If you don’t have a team we will try to find you one.

Teams ride out between 8:30AM – 12:00PM. You will be assigned a ride time – no late arrivals accepted.

Proceeds benefit Essex County Trail Association trail work in West Newbury.

THE ROUTE

  • You will ride through the trails and fields of the Pipestave/Mill Pond, Riverbend and Dunn Farm riding areas (Visit our Trail Riding Section).
  • Adventure Trail is NOT timed for completion, nor scored. Travel at your own pace!
  • The event will be held rain or shine with the course adjusted as needed for safety.

DESCRIPTION OF THE OBSTACLES

  • Our trail obstacles will have varying degrees of difficulty and some will have an easy option.
  • Each rider can decide what to attempt, or to skip some or all completely.
  • It’s your day of fun! The trail route and challenges change from year to year.

FORMAT OF THE DAY

Attire:

  • Casual attire is just perfect but helmets with a chinstrap and hard soled shoes/boots are required for safety.
  • We’d love to see you in costume but it’s not necessary. We do ask for no swords, shields or outrageous wings!

Team Size:

  • Teams are 2 – 4 riders. If you do not have a team, we will try to match you up with others.
  • Teams will travel a course of 3+ miles through trails and fields that will include natural and man-made challenges similar to what you might encounter on any trail ride (and some fun ones you might not!).
  • All challenges are optional, so riders of all levels can participate.

Check-In & Start:

  • Teams check-in with the Secretary
  • Once mounted and ready, teams approach the Starter just before their departure time.

Finish:

  • At the end of your ride, check back in with the Secretary.

KUDOS FROM THE PAST: “The 4 in our group thoroughly enjoyed the Adventure Trail Ride on Sunday! What a great event, and excellent for horses to have fun and to accommodate a lot of different situations and requests from their riders. Please pass on to the group who put it together that we all loved it, the trails were great, the volunteers helpful and everyone else I have talked with who also went on the ride loved it A LOT as well!” Lisa White, Boxford, MA
