Trail Alerts For Pipestave Hill & Cross Country Course

Please be respectful of your horse’s safety as well as your own.

  • XC Course is Open
  • TRAIL NOTE: The Ocean Meadow trails are currently closed to equestrians.
  • The rings are for mounted riding only if conditions are safe.

We ask you to be aware of ground conditions; We are a natural riding area where the soil is a mix of sand, dirt and clay which means varied footing. Wet weather and varying temperatures leave areas icy, hard, and muddy. One area may be fine and firm and a few feet away can be soft and easily treacherous.

General Rules

  • During the winter the course is not for beginners. When snow arrives hills are dangerous and jumping is not permitted.
  • In Spring WALKING is permitted in the fields. Please remember the footing can be slippery and soft after a heavy rain and use caution to stay safe and not damage the footing. During the Spring thaw some areas are extremely slippery and hooves will sink deep in others. The jumps will be tied off for the winter and early spring. The course typically opens at the end of June.
  • Use horse sense.
  • THE RINGS ARE FOR MOUNTED RIDING & HAND GRAZING ONLY. SERIOUS DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE TO THE FOOTING IN THE PAST BY LUNGING AND OTHER SIMILAR ACTIVITIES.
  • The rings, trails and fields are open for your hacking pleasure ONLY when the footing is firm enough… please use mowed paths only in every field and be considerate and do not damage the footing. Trailer parking is in the gravel parking area near the rings, accessed through the main entrance.
  • Please remove all your hay and manure from the parking area when you leave, as we share this area with other activities.
